Patricia Ruiz
Owner & Master Trainer

One of a handful of women owners of Pilates businesses with multiple locations in New York City, Patricia taught privately in a small studio for many years before opening her first multi-station studio on the Upper East Side eight years ago. The new space was an instant success, thanks to her unique approach to Pilates instruction — offering small classes that provide the personalized attention of a private session. Next came a much larger location on the Upper West Side, made larger still in a recent expansion, and then another on the UES, four times the size of the first. Moving Strength now employs 28 instructors who teach 35 different types of classes, many of them unique to the studio, and a full schedule of private sessions at each location.
 
Often featured in the media, including on Health.com and in AM New York and Eye In, Moving Strength is PMA-approved to train and certify Pilates instructors and is the exclusive East Coast practitioner of Power Plate, the innovative technology popular in L.A., for which she and instructor Raleigh Veach developed Pilates Power Plate Strength, Yoga Plate Strength and TRX Plate Strength. The studio also conducts teacher trainings and workshops in Pelvic Floor, Working with Older Populations and Perinatal Teacher Training.
 
A former professional dancer, Patricia has performed with some of New York’s most renowned dance companies. She is a certified Personal Trainer through ACE, and holds certifications in Pilates, Power Plate, yoga, Resist-a-Ball and Healthy Moms Perinatal Training. Patricia has been hands-on in designing and, with the help of friends and family, building the locations, and is often called in to consult on setting up apparatus in new studios.

Raleigh Veach Busser
Managing Director & Master Trainer

Raleigh was first introduced to the Pilates Method at age 11 as a cross training for Ballet. As a dancer in highschool at North Carolina School of the Arts, she began working the various Pilates Apparatus and Equipment. And finally in 2008 she became a certified Pilates instructor. Throughout this journey she has taught various forms of dance and fitness, and currently holds certifications in Pilates Apparatus & Mat, Healthy Moms Perinatal Fitness, Power Plate, TRX, and Megaformer, among others.

From dancing to choreographing to teaching, Raleigh has always been fascinated by movement, anatomy and the capabilities of every unique individual body. The most rewarding aspect of teaching is working with clients and students to discover not only their full potential but watching them better understand their "own body" to achieve their fitness goals. Raleigh's meticulousness on form, quality and flow are demonstrated in all her classes and sessions with an encouraging smile and an energetic attitude! 

Raleigh was born and raised in Nashville, TN and graduated with a B.F.A. in dance and a minor in Anthropology from SUNY Purchase. She has performed with some amazing choreographers and dance companies in New York City and abroad and is founder of Locomotive Artistries, a modern dance company. She has a wonderful husband, Rick, who was her first Pilates test subject when attaining her certification, and a beautiful son Miles, who has been a Pilates Pro since the womb (his favorite Reformer exercise ... Rowing).

Sierra French
​Assistant Managing Director

Sierra French is from Cardiff, California where she began dancing at a very early age. She was introduced to Pilates and Gyrotonics when she moved to New York to pursue a dance career. Since then, Pilates has been an important and powerful tool to keep her healthy and dancing as a freelance artist. She believes the Pilates method facilitates a healthy body and mind for all walks of life.
She is currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in the arts at Saint Mary’s LEAP program for professional dancers, and also dances for the company Armitage Gone Dance.


Arrie Bronson-Davidson
​Operations Manager & Master Trainer

Arrie Davidson is believed to be the reincarnation of Ruth St. Denis and has been described by critics as "the naughty lovechild of Modern Dance and a Burlesque Carnival” -nytheater.com. She is a Transgender Performance Artist, Choreographer, Writer and Feminist Faerie advocate for social evolution. Arrie has studied on scholarship at Pennsylvania Ballet, Gus Giordano Jazz and received her mentorship in Kurt Jooss/Tanztheater under Diana Moore. Major performance credits include Seán Curran Company, Ballet Preljocaj’s “Paysage apres la bataille,” Justin Bond’s House of Whimsy and The Box-NYC. She is founder of KineticArchitecture Dance Theatre, teaches/choreographs throughout the country and has served on the Faculty of Houston Ballet Academy and as Director of Education for New York City Ballet. Arrie received an M.F.A. from Sam Houston State. She is a 2015 CUNY Dance Initiative recipient and has been selected as a 2016 Resident Artist by Dixon Place/Jerome Robbins Foundation.

Certified through the PEAK Pilates system, Arrie is a highly sought-after Pilates trainer and Thai Yoga Massage Therapist. She applies her knowledge of anatomy, health and holistic wellness to the unique goals and needs of the individual. Arrie is loved by New York Burlesque audiences, children and cats.


Malaika Cambridge
Originally from Trinidad & Tobago, and raised in Miami, Malaika was born with the joy of movement. Malaika is a Pilates instructor, dance artist, choreographer, and movement activist.  She holds a BFA from the University of Arizona School of Dance, in Tucson, AZ, where she was introduced to and later certified through the Ron Fletcher International School of Pilates with the mentorship of Kyria Sabin and Deborah Mendoza.  Movement is the conduit through which she experiences life and inspires others in their pursuit of holistic health. 
  


Renee Campbell
Having begun her Pilates journey with a mat certification from PhysicalMind Institute in 2001, Renee completed her comprehensive Pilates education though BASI (Body Arts and Sciences International) in 2010. Her career in dance, as a performer and educator, goes back even further, beginning with a degree in ballet from the Jordan School of Music at Indiana University. She went on to perform as a full-time member of the ballet company at the National Theater in Mannheim, Germany.

As her career in movement and fitness progressed, Renee increasingly incorporated Pilates into her routines. The benefits of Pilates are well-known in the dance community and Renee is convinced that exercise and body awareness hold the keys to feeling good in all aspects and stages of life. She keeps her classes flowing to make the workouts enjoyable while guiding students to understand the purpose and proper execution of each movement pattern. “When the mind and the body are communicating seamlessly good things happen!”


Ardella Bang
Certified in Pilates under Simona Cipriani through the lineage of Romana Kryzanowska, Ardella has workshopped with Peak Pilates level IV instructor Connie Borho and studied with Daniel Giel. She is a certified Power Plate trainer (CPPT) and a NASM/AFAA certified personal trainer (CPT).

Driven by a passion to move, Ardella is committed to imparting the joy and the freedom of movement to people from all walks of life.

A Singaporean Native, Ardella graduated from SUNY Purchase College of the Arts and as an independent artist has collaborated with 3D designers, theater practitioners, design and media artists and musicians to create a wide-ranging, multiform body of work.


Kelley Carey
Starting her journey at the age of two as a dancer, Kelley spent her life in the studio exploring movement and fitness to supplement her dancing, as well as for the purpose of injury prevention. She went on to dance at SUNY Purchase's Conservatory of Dance where she dove into the world of somatics including Pilates, Yoga, Alexander, and Feldenkrais. Her classes will inspire you to work out any kinks or ailments you may have and feel much better than when you walked in. With her Pilates mat and all apparatus training under the Balanced Body University, Kelley supplements her teaching methods by taking classes from many different instructors and schools of thought as well as courses in anatomy, biology nutrition, meditation, and dance.


Desira Barnes
Desira is a California grown artist who has been in NYC since Feb '09 pursuing a career in Pilates,Modern Dance, and Choreography. Desira has a background in dance and began her training in San Jose California. She received her B.A in dance from San Jose State University. She is currently certified as a Personal Trainer, Pilates Mat/Apparatus, and TRX Instructor. Desira is all about getting your mind connected to your body, through endless abdominal activation. So, if you think you're tight? You could be tighter!

Hope Belmont
Master Trainer

Certified through Stott Pilates, Hope has been teaching Pilates apparatus and mat classes for over 12 years. Her own experience of using Pilates to recover from injuries has convinced her of its effectiveness in staying strong and fit as one ages. “Fitness is the key to youthfulness,” she says.

Originally from Michigan, but now a tried-and-true New Yorker, Hope brings her sense of humor to every workout, but at the same time drives her students hard. “Fitness should be fun, yet though,” says Hope. “My father was a soldier. I got the tough part from him.” Indeed, she says, “fitness will make you fierce at any age!”

In addition to Pilates, hope is a certified Gyrotonic instructor and enjoys TRX, swimming, horseback riding, trampoline and kettlebells.


Nilsa Benitez
Nilsa Benitez is an AFAA group fitness instructor, a licensed Zumba instructor, a TRX instructor and a Black Belt in Goju.  She has been dancing since she can remember and Zumba Fitness® combined her passion for fitness and for dance. She became a licensed Zumba Fitness® instructor and an active member of ZIN (Zumba Instructor Network), and in 2012 and an AFAA group instructor two years later.  Zumba Fitness® has allowed Nilsa the opportunity to share her love of dance and fitness.
Clint Bigham
Clint Bigham is a certified personal trainer through the Titleist Performance Institute, holds a Pilates and dance conditioning certification through University Nevada Las Vegas, Yoga Method Alliance certification, BodyCode certifications, and continues his education at the Feldenkrais Guild of North America.

Leticia Campos, CPT
Leticia Campos has over 12 years of experience in fitness and health care. She holds a BA in Physical Therapy and Specialty in Rheumatology from the Federal University of Sao Paulo (UNIFESP), a Personal Training Certification from the National Academy of Sports Medicine, a Pre/Postnatal specialization from PROnatal Fitness, and additional certifications in Pilates, TRX, and Functional Training.
 
Leticia moved from Brazil to New York City in 2016.  Prior to her move, she worked as a Physical Therapist in a sports rehabilitation clinic catering to post-injury clients, high performance athletes, hydrotherapy and chronic pain.  She also opened and managed her own Pilates studio. With her background in physical therapy and Pilates, she focuses a great deal on proper core training and posture alignment as the foundation for any training.
 
When she is not training clients or taking Pilates classes herself, Leticia enjoys exploring New York with her husband, cooking, traveling, and staying educated on health and fitness trends.
  

Terrence Carey
A legend in the New York City fitness scene, Terrence Carey has created and instructed classes in various styles and modalities for Jeff Martin Studios, Bally, Crunch, Synergy, the Sports Club Co., Equinox and the Sports Center at Chelsea Piers, where he was voted “Coach of the Year” in 2004 for his unique blend of Pilates and movement re-integration. 

Terrence received an M.F.A. in Drama and Kinesiology from the University of California Irvine, where he completed the 500-hour Pilates Certification to teach on all the classical equipment and on the mat. His postgraduate studies include nutritional analysis, coaching the artist, wellness for athletes, yoga for alignment and strength and private wellness coaching as treatment for substance abuse and Type II Diabetes.  

His latest creation, Wellness Live, a private and group exercise coaching template, is offered at the five-star hotel Eventi. He is also the founder of Sentrik, a multidimensional wellness program which custom designs exercise protocols for individual clients. 

An accomplished actor, singer and musical theater artist, Terrence has performed nationally and trained with such highly regarded artists as Alvin Ailey, Arthur Mitchell, Uta Hagen, Marnie Nixon, Mercedes Ellington, Ann Reinking, Nicole Fosse and Honi Coles.



Diarra Cummings
Diarra Cummings (Brooklyn, NY) began teaching the Pilates method in 2008 following a career as a professional dancer touring with classical ballet and modern dance companies in the U.S. While earning a B.A. from The School of General Studies at Columbia University, Diarra completed her teacher training through Lawson Harris at The Fitness Guru Teaching Lab Pilates Apparatus Certification and her pre/post natal certification through Brigitte Arle at Little Bridge Pilates. Incorporating traditional and contemporary Pilates exercises, Diarra’s teaching emphasizes a conscious approach to movement with a focus on correct alignment and efficient biomechanics in a judgment free and supportive learning environment. Diarra strongly believes in the transformative power the mind has over the body and roots her teaching in the belief that physical heath and awareness are essential to reaching one’s optimum potential.

Catherine Ekeleme
Catherine is a professional wellness and movement educator, former dancer and former multi-sport athlete. She graduated with a Masters in Public Health from New York University in 2013 and became a Certified Health Education Specialist shortly after. Her intention has always been to create a safe space for people to share their human experience, and teaching movement has been a rewarding way to serve that intention.

Her love of movement began at age 4 in North Carolina, where she's originally from. She holds certifications in Yoga, Pilates, Energy Therapy, Bodywork and Mindfulness Meditation, and she blends several elements of her expertise into classes that encourage students to explore what it means to be in their bodies. Her passion for teaching comes from her passion for practice, and she’s excited to share that passion with her students!


Quinton Guthier
Quinton Guthier is originally from Madison, Wisconsin. He attended Interlochen Arts Academy Boarding High School where he trained in dance under the direction of Cameron Basden. Quinton went on to earn his BFA in dance from the Fordham University and Alvin Ailey dance program. He has trained and earned his certification for Pilates from The LAB in NYC. Quinton is currently a company dancer with the Carolyn Dorfman Dance Company in New York City.

Irene Kontalipos
A native New Yorker, Irene received her mat certification from LindaFit Pilates headed by Linda Farrell, a Romana Kryzanowska-certified instructor. She studied apparatus at the Lab in Dumbo, Brooklyn. Prior to her Pilates training, she earned a BS in Biology from St. Francis College.
Anna Moy
Anna first experienced Pilates in 1998 while on vacation at Canyon Ranch in Tucson. Upon returning to New York, she began taking private sessions at Tribeca Bodyworks (now known as Real Pilates) owned by Alycea Ungaro. She connected with the methodology so much that she applied for and was accepted into the Teacher Certification Program at the Pilates Center of New York located at Drago's Gymnasium (now known as True Pilates or Romana's Pilates). Leaving the corporate world of advertising behind, Anna completed the certification program in the fall of 2001 and has been teaching since 2002.

In 2009, Anna completed her certification in the Gyrotonic Expansion System which adds to her versatility as a movement instructor.

Outside the studio, Anna can be found taking a ballet class, a Gyrotonic Tower class, tap dancing or reading a murder mystery.


Dayle Patrick
Dayle has always been passionate about dance and fitness - incorporating the philosophy of "Move a muscle - Change a thought" Having grown up in Newfoundland, Canada Dayle's first love was Irish, Newfoundland and Scottish Sword dancing. Her background in the theater contributes a dramatic and fun element to her classes. Dayle's enthusiasm for Zumba Fitness is best expressed in her desire to really live the motto "dancing like nobody is watching". .
She is currently teaching Zumba fitness, dance aerobics and body conditioning classes for City Parks and Recreation in Manhattan.

Dayle a licensed Zumba Fitness instructor and also holds licences in Zumbatomics and ZumbaGold.

Iveta Polokova
Born in the Czech Republic, Iveta performed as a dancer throughout her high school and college years. While beginning her family, she learned the basic principals of bodybuilding and volunteered to lead group exercise classes for neighbors. Iveta ultimately brought all these skills to the U.S., developing them to new heights of proficiency. Iveta is a certified instructor in Pilates, Zumba, TRX, Spin and Body Conditioning.
Rachel Priebe
A certified Pilates Instructor since 2000, Rachel incorporates both classical and contemporary approaches to Pilates in her training. She aims to help her students improve their strength, tone, flexibility and overall well being. In addition to her many years of teaching experience, Rachel is Polestar Pilates certified, has studied at the Kane School of Core Integration with renowned anatomist Irene Dowd and was a longtime student of Pilates Elder Kathy Grant.

Stephanie Ross
Stephanie is a New York based dancer, runner, and Pilates instructor. She is originally from Michigan, has a Master's Degree in Dance/Movement Therapy, and received her Pilates Certification through Balanced Body and Balanced Pilates. The self care aspect of fitness is very important to Stephanie, as are the practical benefits of Pilates - including whole body movement, improved posture and alignment, and an increased ability to calm and focus the mind.


Manuela Sanchez
Originally from Brooklyn, NY, Manuela has always believed in movement as a catalyst for healing. She is a professional, freelance dance artist and encountered Pilates through a dance injury. Recovering from several injuries and witnessing the power of Pilates in herself she wanted to spread that to others. She began teaching Pilates in 2011, receiving over 500 hours of training and a certification in Mat and Pilates Apparatus from Studio Anya in New York City. Since then Manuela has taught group and private classes at Studio Anya, Moving Strength and Sanctuary Pilates all in NYC. She continued her teaching career in Miami, helping to open the first Club Pilates of Miami and also taught at Iron Flower Fitness and SoFlow Fitness and Wellness. Besides Pilates, she has also been trained as a Yoga, Barre and TRX instructor throughout her journey. Now back in NYC Manuela hopes to continue spreading her love for movement through dance and fitness to promote health and happiness!​
Jose Sepulveda
Moved by his passion for fitness and healthy living though Pilates, Jose is an instructor in private and mat classes at The Fitness Guru Pilates Studio and the Academy of Mixed Martial Science in Los Angeles. Jose has a BFA in Musical Theater from the University of Michigan and is a graduate of The Fitness Guru Teaching Lab in New York City.
Anfisa Sokolova
Originally from St. Petersburg, Russia, Anfisa Sokolova grew up with an appreciation for the human form and its expressions, especially through gymnastics and ballet. Anfisa found pilates in the teens and later rediscovered it during an injury rehabilitation, at which time she came to understand and appreciate the benefits of proper form and alignment. She hopes to help others find their balance, confidence and strength through movement. With an initial training from Sal Anthony’s Movement Salon, Anfisa continues pilates and fitness education throughout various NYC based studios. 


Lea Torelli
Lea has been studying movement of all kinds since her first dance class at the age of 3. From that moment, she has always had a love of all types of movement. Lea is a trained dancer and aerialist, and has received her Pilates Apparatus and Mat certifications from The Lab, in Dumbo, Brooklyn.
